Best thing to do in January
The city is ready for a new year.
Of course, the month is still cold, and the sun tends to be a bit shy, but January is quite a good month to visit the Netherlands. It is a bit quieter tourist wise.
There is always the option to hide in one of the many museums and go for to a cute cafe.
1. Tulip day
The symbol of the Netherlands. On the 20th of January, it is Tulip National day. Come to Museumplein to celebrate this beautiful and colourful day.
Take a bag to pick some tulip, you will have to harvest them from the ground. Once home you can either plant it back in your garden or place them in a beautiful vase.
There will be about 200.000 tulips of various variety and colours. We will suggest coming early. The event is free.

2. Sporty people, join the Vondelpark loop.
Vondelpark is one of our favourite parks in Amsterdam, enjoy the nature in just a 10min tram from Crowne Plaza Amsterdam-South.
If you’re not a fan of running, you can visit one of the many cute cafes in the area. This neighbourhood also have some famous clothing store. So, you might not sprint but might have a shopping spree.
3. Light festival
The light festival is still happening on the canal of Amsterdam!

Thu-Sun from 5.00-11.00 p.m.
4. The realism fair
Exposing the most important contemporary art worldwide. For this 20th edition of the fair. Around 30 renowned national and international galleries took part in the fair, specializing in contemporary figurative painting and sculpture, drawing, graphics and photography. In addition to work by established artists, several galleries showed work by young emerging talent to give figurative art new impulses.

4. good resolution?
Even if you have taken good resolution this month…
Maybe you would like to try Van Stapele Koekmakerij famous cookies. They serve only one flavour. It is made of dark chocolate dough with a soft white chocolate filling . You will know when you’re there as the smell of the fresh baked cookies fill-in the street.
The store open at 10am until the batches last.
